Regent Park: PATCH It Up!

Regent Park Boulevard, Toronto, ON

PATCH Artist Troy Pynn worked alongside members of the Regent Park community to create this mural which challenged participants think about role of construction sites on our urban environment.

Emerging artists and passerby were invited to inspire the artwork’s design and take part in its creation, which took place as part of 100 Interventions in 1 Day, a civic engagement festival that brought over 160 public space interventions to the streets of Toronto on June 7th 2014.

About Our Partner

What if hundreds of people united, each putting in place the changes they wish to see in their city, all on the same day?

On June 7 2014, for the first time-ever, Toronto hosted 100 in 1 Day.

This citizen-driven festival united people across the city to make Toronto a better place by creating acts of urban change.

These acts, or interventions, have the potential to raise awareness of urban and social issues, inspire ideas, and motivate leaders to consider new approaches to old problems.

We are delighted to have collaborated with Artscape, a non-profit urban developer that focuses on making space for creativity and transforms communities and 2014 Social Entrepreneur of the Year, to realize this installation. We’re also thrilled to have engaged youth from UforChange, which provides young people from the Regent Park area with opportunities to nurture their creative passion through hands-on arts programming.
