Mel Lastman Square
On July 11th 2014, PATCH Artist Paul Byron engaged audiences at the Cultura Festival in an interactive painting performance. Event attendees were painted into this new work (literally), which evolved over the course of the evening. Figures and faces appeared and disappeared in the work as the crowd came and went.
Sound of the Crowd is the result of the artist’s experience of this public space, along with the people and energy contained within it. The work encapsulates the atmosphere of Mel Lastman Square during this lively summer festival.
