Mel Hayes is a graphic designer and visual artist who pushes the boundaries between art and design. Hayes was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and a 2016 graduate of the Alberta University of the Arts. She currently freelances in Toronto and has worked for a range of clients from nonprofit to commercial, both local and international.
Hayes finds inspiration in diverse sources, from architecture, painting, mixed media and motion graphics. Her work is greatly influenced by personal experience and travelling abroad. She uses multiple textures, patterns and geometric shapes. Hayes’ work explores topics of memories, past, mental health and connection.
