Helen was born in Guangzhou, China. Inspired to be an artist at age 4, she completed her first stage of formal arts education at the Claude Watson Program after immigrating to Canada with her family.
Helen holds a graduate degree in urban design and bachelor degree in architectural design from the University of Toronto. Her work focuses on identity, immigration, community engagement, and public spaces.
Active in Toronto’s Chinese-Canadian community, Helen explores concepts surrounding identities and breaks the walls surrounding them. Her work combines traditional Chinese artistic elements, digital colours, and expressionist techniques to convey the clashes of experiences in Toronto.
