Neighbourhoods are defined by their public spaces as much as the people who use and activate them. These twenty community spaces in and around Regent Park offer a diverse and vibrant look at the cross-sections of these downtown east neighbourhoods. At life size, you can picture yourself in each location and experience how they flow together as a community.
Darren Rigo is a Toronto-based artist who creates work inspired by the absurdity in everyday life. His practice reacts to location as a source of inspiration while considering the endlessly evolving nature of photography. He received a BFA from OCAD University where he majored in photography and recently completed residencies at AIAV (Japan), Leveld Kunstnartun (Norway), AIRY (Japan). His work is included in the collections of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts. Local public installations of his work commissioned by SickKids Hospital, Daniels Corporation and Plazacorp Investments are currently on view around the city.
