Balance and colour combinations are essential to Craig White’s artistic practice and are central in all his pieces. White tries to tell another person’s personal story or struggle through his art hoping that it will connect with someone else who sees it.
White’s “Canadian Zebra” draws inspiration from his time teaching in Northern Ontario near Hudson Bay. One student described a zebra to another, who had never seen one before, as a moose hiding behind the trees. The piece reflects White’s interpretation of this concept as it emerged from the minds of his students.
